Yesterday, I helped to mediate a case.

The case

The house owner :

1) engaged a reno contractor
2) not happy with their workmanship,
3) engaged another contractor to complete the jobs.
4) Consumer lodged police report regarding some misunderstanding,
5) Want to terminate agreement
6) Want compensation for mental stress, delays, loss of use, rental pay to landords while waiting for the renovation works to complete
7) Apology published in the ST for their hash words

The Reno Contractor :

1) Defended that their workmanship was according to industry standard
2) wanted compensation from the house owner.
3) Complained that the house owners were unreasonable, demanding etc


The contract sum - S$27,000
Work done - S$17,000
Money collected - S$15,600
